This series is an examination of three cities; Melbourne Canberra and Sydney. The title for the series comes from ‘hetero’ meaning different, and ‘topia’ meaning place. Revisiting these places with fresh eyes, the photographs were shot out of focus on transparency film, with magenta or blue filters. The film was cross-processed, and the resultant negatives were printed as transparencies, to reverse the colour again. This process was designed to increase the saturation and reverse the colour, to look at these familiar scenes and places anew.
